Ganjitsu (from 1 to 3 January)
Ganjitsu is the Japanese New Year's day, and last three days. Festivities include greeting the rising sun, a visit to a Shinto temple and general rejoicing.
This is the celebration of the universal New Year’s day and is greeted with festivities all around the world.
Guru Govind Singh’s birthday
Devotional songs are sung and prayers offered by Sikhs all over the world. Guru Govind Singh was the tenth guru of the Sikhs.
Makar Sankranti (known as Pongal in Tamilnadu, India) is a major harvest festival, a day of great festivity, when the Sun begins its movement away from the tropic of Capricorn and towards the northern hemisphere.
Tu B’Shvat *
Tu B’Shvat is the New Year of Trees in the Hebrew tradition. Schools organize tree planting excursions and many fruits are eaten on this day.

India Republic Day
The Constitution of India came into being on January 26th 1950 and replaced the Government of India Act 1935. Republic day parades are held in all state capitals on that day.
